In February I was thrilled to be invited to the English Wedding Awards. It was extra special as I was nominated for Best Wedding Photographer of the Year!
I travelled down to Manchester with my gorgeous friends Jane and Andrew (Bird Cages & Dragonflies), who do all the wedding planning team/decor parts to make your wedding pretty and help it run smoothly.
We arrived at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester and got settled in, with time to glam up for a full on Black Tie event. And you all know how I feel about getting all dressed up…
Before I knew it, we were arriving at the awards, with my best smiles ready to be really brave and have my photos taken by a professional photographer. It was very unusual to be on the other side of the camera!
The awards got underway and to my delight, Jane was announced as the winner of her category! She had won the entire area of the North and received her trophy. I was such a proud friend.
We then enjoyed listening to the other categories and winners being announced. It was so inspiring to see the best in the Wedding Business from all around England being celebrated. We had a little break for our meal, but i couldn’t eat much as I was feeling rather nervous!
The awards continued after the break and next thing I knew the Sparth house, who were the other guests at our table, were being announced as the winner of their category too. So exciting!
Now the pressure was really on, everyone else on the table had a trophy and I wanted one too!
It felt like forever waiting for my category to come up. Because there were so many nominees for the awards, they split the Wedding Photographer of the year into areas; North East, North West and Yorkshire.
Finally they started to announce the winners. The presenter opened the envelope and said ‘Reminds me of cake…’ and I thought that’s me! I had won the North East Best (Wedding) Photographer of the year!!!
Huge congratulations to the very talented winners from the other two categories: Wes Simpson & Rob Carney.
After the formal awards were over, I got to party with one of my absolute faves from the North East: The Glamorous Owl. What an amazing night it was!
I’m so proud to be recognised in the industry and win the award for Best Wedding Photographer North East. The bit that means the most is that so many of the couples I have worked with took the time to write the testimonials and vote for me, it really does mean the world! After all, that’s what got me to the final! So huge THANK YOU to everyone!
